Water Lilies & Green Chinese Lantern Seed Pods - Sarah Duke Gardens

y More images from Sarah Duke Gardens. The image on the left is of waterlilies.  The image on the right is of Chinese Lantern  (Physalis alkekengi) seed pods that are still green. In another month or so they will be a vivid orange color. They  are used a lot in flower arrangements or as part of a wedding bouquet in the fall. This plant is poisionous and considered invasive. Taken with iPhone 6S with minimal editing.

 Sunday I went to Sarah Duke Garden in Durham, NC.  Went early as it was going to be 90+ degrees in the afternoon.  The image on the right is Aechmea tessmannii which is a member of the bromeliad family.  I used my Plant Snap app to identify the name as no marker. The image on the right a type of pitcher plant flower in the Children's Discovery Garden. Used my iPhone 6S with minimal editing --applied vignette to the pitcher flowers on the right.  Sarracenia  ( / ˌ s ær ə ˈ s iː n i ə /  or  / ˌ s ær ə ˈ s ɛ n i ə / ) is a  genus  comprising 8 to 11  species  of North American  pitcher plants , commonly called  trumpet pitchers . The genus belongs to the family  Sarraceniaceae , which also contain the closely allied genera  Darlingtonia  and  Heliamphora .
