H.S.A Food Images

Image
The image on the right is from one of our culinary luncheons.  We are studying herb blends this year.  The image on the right was Greek tortilla rollups that I took as finger food for a presentation at Ciener Garden last March. Violas were used for accent  They are edible.

Bromeliads & Macro Poinsettia

Image
In December in NC there are not as many opportunites to photograph flora.  The image on the left was taken at Lowe's in the indoor plant section   Bromeliads are a plant that needs to be a house plant in the winter months for our plant zone.  I went to a poinsettia open house in King, NC, and took pictures of a lot of varieties of poinsettias.  The image on the right I intentionally wanted to capture the center flowers as a macro. The  modified colored leaves are actually bracts. Green leaves are below the bracts.  Images taken with my iPhone XR - no post editing. With indoor lighting you can not always get the best light.

Rust Images

Image
I like taking pictures of rust because of the textures and colors found in nature.   However, I am not about to keep the image as I have taken it. Because of the subject matter being abstract, this is where you can turn the designs into something more colorful or increasing the texture with sharpening in post processing with various filters. What would have taken a painter may months to paint and layer a canvas can be accomplished with just a few clicks of your mouse. Sometime it looks better flipped to a different orientation.   These images were taken at different locations.  Dumpsters are a great places to find rust images.

Lighting ideas for Christmas Ornaments Outside or Inside.

Image
You never know what you will find to photograph at your Lowe's store or hanging from a tree at Christmas time.  The image on the left was in the Christmas decoration/lighting area at Lowe's in November.  I liked how colorful it was and replaced the background with a black color.  The image on the right I have not yet captured being lit at night.  It is difficult to see that there are plastic cups secured? and then in the middle are small candle like lights.  I guess this is a new variation of the lighted balls.  These images were taken with my iPhone XR.  Another neighbor had used white coat hangers to make stars and had small lights woven around it.  Saw a video on You Tube for how to make it from supplies from the Dollar Tree.

Window Washers at Work and Abstract Street Art in Downtown Greensboro

Image
In October I was in downtown Greensboro looking for Public Art on various buildings by different artists. Marty Kotis, a developer, had been to the Netherlands and seen this type of art displayed there..  He has decided to have artists paint on buildings in Greensboro. At that time there were about 85 in various areas of GSO. I captured these images with my iPhone XR  I only captured a portion of one of the glass panes on Davie St. near Market St  I did enhance the colors and sharpen to look better as window version was more faded and a cloudy day. Although not art I managed to capture two window washers. The people are nott that sharp  as I had to use zoom. A lot of the street art has other things in the background, so not as great to capture the whole image.  Because in a downtown area, cars parked on the street, etc. Then the sun may not be in your favor for the time of day.  If a large architecture image it can look skewed and and the app  SKRWT ca...

Public Art at PTI Airport - No Info Regarding Artist or About the Artwork

Image
Sometimes I find unusual images to capture at public places.  I was taking my daughter to PTI airport and noticed this usual artwork?   There was no artist or name listed for this object.  I had to shoot upwards with my iPhone. It looked like it was made with silicone.
